Here’s some pictures of the Teleflora/Fiji Water studio so you can get a better sense of what Dutch and I are doing.
Behold, the precious Fiji Water bottle. This past Friday we did some test shots with a Canon 5D. That little throne for the water bottle is really some thick posterboard to prevent some unecessary reflections so the bottle looks cleaner. We even had to use some gasoline to wipe off the printed expiration date/printed bottling date. Supermodels, water bottles, it looks like they have much in common: they both just need a little primping before they give us their best shot.
Then we take it into Photoshop and whiten up the background, shape up some of the reflections, and make sure that the pink flower stands out. We also used a gold reflector to bring out the gold outline of Fiji water, but that made the pink flower too pastel-ish. After a few tweaks Dutch made it look really good. All of this preps us for a final shoot, where we’ll be shooting everything from the water bottles themselves to golf balls and umbrellas. And since we shoot in the same studio as the Teleflora people, I often get to see some amazing and beautiful flowers there. On Friday I got to fiddle around with Dutch’s macro lens:
The flowers above look like fuzzy feet!
It will be a short and exciting week! This week I will be prepping for Jeff and Ying’s wedding, and I’m really looking forward to it, it’ll be a blast.
